Happy first Resolution Reading Roundup of 2018! I know I mean to do this monthly, but that didn’t happen, so here is my QUARTER YEAR 2018 EDITION!

Yay!

Reading Roundup - Quarter Year 2018 Edition

If you haven’t read or watched my 2018 New Year’s Resolution post (You can see it here now if you want), I have a reading goal of 75 books for the year. It’s part of the Goodreads year challenge. It sounds like a lot, and it definitely is, but I know I can do it, especially since I’m back to my passion of reading books for fun again.

Book Chilling

But not only am I into reading, I have a life update for all my lovely readers, I have also been back to WRITING! Yes, writing!

Whoopie for not only this blog but for anyone who might want to read an actual fictional novel from me. IF you aren’t following me on Instagram, then you don’t know that I’ve already finished writing my second novel and it’s off to editing and then publishing! (Also, I post some pretty fire stuff on Insta so you can check me out here and come follow my day to day journey)

But that’s pretty much my life update so far, I’ve just been working, reading and writing. And now I’ve also added editing to this mix since I need to edit my books before I publish them. But hey, I’d keep an eye out my lovely friends because I might be posting some exclusive first looks for all those who follow my blog!

Anyway, let’s continue on to what you’ve been waiting for since my last Resolution Reading Roundup from 2017.

Here are all the books I’ve read in the last quarter, my friends!

YA ROMANCE NOVELS

Isla and the Happily Ever After

Hint for my future books, this may or may not be the genre I’m currently writing for 😉

Anna and the French Kiss Series by Stephanie Perkins

This YA romance series was a favorite of mine. I’ve been wanting to read these for so long and I absolutely fell in love with them. I first read Anna and the French Kiss and it was so cute and I couldn’t help but love the characters. I read Lola and the Boy Next Door and it just continued my love for this series. I then read Isla and the Happily Ever After and I was sad that this series ended. These series helped flourish my love and want to write the books I currently have already written or to be written so you can only imagine how good these books were to me. Perkins did a fantastic job on this series that each novel was easy to read and could honestly be read out of order if you want.

Isla and the Happily Ever After

Love, Life, and the List by Kasie West

Now I am a very big fan of West. I’ve read almost all her YA Romance novels and LOVED them, especially since P.S. I Like You is one of my FAV YA Romance novels to date. And this book was just as good. It has the same light and fun book read that West usually delivers and I was very happy with it. She comes out with a new novel at the end of the month called Listen to Your Heart and you bet your ass I will be reading that book when it comes out.

Love Life and the list

Center Ice (Corrigan Falls Raiders Series) by Cate Cameron

Since I finished reading all of Miranda Kenneally Hundred Oaks series, I needed another YA Romance Sports book to fall for and then came in Center Ice. While her series is set more around hockey, instead of different sports like Kenneally, I still loved it and was able to love these characters very much. I even accidentally read the last book in the series before the third book and it was still great.

Here are her books in order:

1-Center Ice
2-Playing Defense
3-Winging It (The book I still have to read since I accidentally skipped it)
4-Breakaway

I’d definitely recommend these novels, especially if you enjoy hockey and cute and fun hockey romance.

Saint Anything by Sarah Dessen

Now Sarah Dessen is one of the first YA romance novel authors I fell in love with. I’ve been reading her stuff since I was an actual young adult and she had me wanting to write things just as deep and wonderful as her characters in her novels. She really pours a lot of heart and soul in her books that this book wasn’t any different. She wrote another heartfelt and wonderful novel and while this wasn’t as romantic as some of her other novels, it was still very good nonetheless.

Top Ten – Katie Cotugno
Saving It – Monica Murphy

These two books above were the least favorite books I read this year so far. Top Ten was a bit too cheesy for my taste and I usually LOVE cheesy YA romance novels. And I was very disappointed in Saving It because Monica Murphy’s series of Just Friends was some of favorite YA Romance novels I read last year and to read this was just disappointing. But I read them and still enjoyed them enough to finish them at least.

FANTASY/SCI-FI NOVELS

Ignite Me

Ignite Me by Tahereh Mafi

This book has been on my TBR list since last year and I finally finished reading it in January. Maybe I finally finished it because the next novel Restore Me was coming out not too long after I finished it and I wouldn’t have to wait too long to read the next novel. But as always Mafi did an amazing job writing this novel and her characters are just as fabulous as I had always remembered them to be.

Heir of Fire

Heir of Fire by Sarah J. Maas

Maas definitely does not disappoint in her third installment of the Throne of Glass series. At first, it was a little too slow to my own liking considering it took me a few months to finally finish the book. But by the time I made it past the rather slower parts of the novel it got so good, I couldn’t put it down and had many nights not sleeping because of it.

NONFICTION / AUTOBIOGRAPHIES / SELF-HELP

How to be a Bawse by Lilly Singh

This was the first book I finished for 2018 and I was very happy it was my first book of the year. It really made me start my year off with a bang because of how empowering Singh is in her book. While it is also her autobiography, she made it into a self-help empower yourself type of book and I loved it. Plus she’s an awesome YouTuber and really promotes Girl Love and all about that positive life.

What I Know for Sure by Oprah Winfrey

Good Ol’ Oprah is a great woman. And her book did not stray from that. Instead of just doing a regular autobiography she taught lessons that she herself had learned throughout her life and it was such an enjoyable read. I learned a lot from Oprah’s book and I mean how can you not take advice from such a successful, motivational, positive, and humble human as Oprah.

You are a BADASS at Making Money by Jen Sincero

I read her You are a Badass: How to Stop Doubting Your Greatness and Start Living an Awesome Life last year and this book was nothing short of showing how much of a badass you can be if you are in the right mindset. So thinking you are great and a badass and changing how you perceive and look at money can really manifest what you want. All I can say is after reading this book I ended up getting two raises in less than two months at my job this year (And it’s only May folks). If this book didn’t prove that changing your mindset about money can really change your life than I don’t know what to tell you.

Better than Before: Mastering the Habits of Our Everyday Lives by Gretchen Rubin

I read The Happiness Project by Rubin last year and thought it was amazing. This was another great book that she wrote that really brought her previous project to fruition by giving you steps to help your everyday lives into better, happier, ones by mastering good habits. I definitely learned a lot more about myself through her habits guide and I’m grateful for what I’ve learned and its helped me implement how I master my habits nowadays.
