Happy Day 10 of my 14-day book launch! Today I want to share with you 5 ways I beat Writer’s Block.

My book is officially going to be out in 4 days! I just can’t believe it’s getting closer and closer to finally being released into the online world.

I had a realization earlier how it was a scary thing for me to release my first book because this was an idea that I made up in my head, an idea that I took care of and fostered until it became a full-blown story.

And it’s scary to put all those thoughts and words that run through my brain into a single story and then let others read it. It is scary, but I’m also so excited because that feeling of have the final draft and getting it all uploaded onto all the different website has been the most wonderful feeling on the planet and wouldn’t trade it for the world.

I’m actually already editing my second book to hopefully come out within the next month or two! Yay!

But today I wanted to share some ways that I beat writer’s block. Now a lot of this is very close to my post about getting out of a creative funk, but I wanted to make sure it pertains very closely with writing specifically.

So without further ado, here are 5 ways to beat writer’s block.

Read

Reading is probably the number one way for me to beat writer’s block. I mean what better way to get out of writing funk than getting inspired by other people’s word. Not only does following a new story help you get your mind back in order, it will invite you into thinking back outside the box for your current story.

Visit a new location

And by this, I mean go somewhere you’ve never been before and explore it for a while. Maybe a new museum or a new restaurant. Explore it and get inspired.

Play

Sometimes mindless playing is good for you. Get some of that play-doh you have stashed away and make some weird craft with it. Grab some adult coloring books and just color. Play like you’re ten years old again and watch your mind expand and have a new perspective on your characters.

Talk to someone

Whether it be your significant other, your mom, a friend or an online buddy. Talk to someone and get inspired by their day or their story. This is guaranteed to get your brain working and get it some inspo for your next scene.

Go outside

Get that blood flowing and go outside. This is different from visit a new location in the sense of just go outside your door, away from your computer and breath in the fresh air. Sometimes just being cooped up in front of your computer or house all day will block all your creative juices. Get outside even for as little as five minutes and smell that fresh air.

And there you have it, friends. 5 great and effective ways to beat writer’s block. Whether you’ve heard these before or not, these are always 5 great things to remember when writing almost anything in your life.

Until tomorrow. You guys keep on writing and being awesome! And watch out for September 14! My book will officially be released for the world to read!

XOXO
