Now this flashback has a video companion.

This was the most recent Comic-Con I went to and it has a very interesting story behind it. This was in the year of 2011.

I was in community college at the time and I was also obsessed with a show called Ghost Adventures. For anyone that watches the Travel Channel, you know what I’m talking about.

But for anyone that doesn’t watch the Travel Channel, the show is basically three guys, Zak, Nick and Aaron, who go around the world and ghost hunt or investigate paranormal activities in so-called Haunted places.

Now I’m a believer. I love scary stuff and ghosts and all that. It intrigues me. Plus I also found Zak Bagans a rather good-looking older man to look at. But their wit and deep investigations really had me hooked. They were the next best travel channel celebs that I wanted to meet. Samantha Brown was my number one.

So when I heard they were going to come down to San Diego and investigate Old Town’s Cosmopolitan Hotel I had to be there. I heard they were very nice to fans and I wanted to be one of those fans to finally meet them! (I KNOW the fan girl in me is definitely creeping out).

So through the beautiful use of the internet, I found out they were shooting in Old Town on this particular day. I also found out they would be at Comic-Con that year too. But this was when Comic-Con started blowing up more and tickets were just sold out.

So my best bet was to meet them at Old Town. I did try to win tickets to Comic-Con, because every radio station in the area had at least one day pass to give out to their listeners. While I was not an avid radio listener there was this one radio station that was doing raffle ticket giveaways where you play a bunch of their online games, win points and a certain amount of points gets you a ticket in their raffle to Comic-Con Day Passes.

I only found out about this a week before Comic-Con so since I didn’t think I had a chance, I figured Old Town was my best bet.

I got there early and they were not there, I waited a very long time for them. (I am very determined and persistent)

Finally when I was about to give up, I got a phone call from a random number. But I decided to answer it anyways. And guess who it was. The radio station telling me I WON two passes for one day at Comic Con! I had never been so excited in my life.

My dream of meeting The Ghost Adventures Crew was going to come true! So I signed me and my sister up, even though I didn’t tell her we were going yet. And I figured, since I was going to meet them at Comic-Con what’s the point of staying all day in Old Town to try and meet them in the hot hot sun.

Well, considering it was my lucky day. As I was walking back towards my car, low and behold I run into Aaron Goodwin one of the three investigators and probably the nicest guy ever! I had my little flip cam ready and here’s the video I shot with him. My nerves were running high so excuse the terrible shaky-ness of the video.

I was so stoked on life at that moment. I had won tickets to Comic-Con for the next day and I got to meet one of the three guys I came to Old Town for. And once again, as I walked towards the Cosmopolitan Hotel where I parked my car, I see a bunch of girls yelling to the top floor of the hotel.

And once again, lucky me it was the GAC crew who so luckily agreed to come down and meet some fans. And me being the lucky fan to finally meet them on my lucky lucky day.

While it’s hard to express in words what it’s like to meet these guys, I did capture all my nervousness on camera. Please excuse the fan girl popping out, but this is the closest celeb I’ve ever met in my life at that point and they were guys I absolutely loved watching on Travel Channel. So I was excited.

So that was my old-town experience leading up to Comic-Con.

And there’s that. I was lucky enough to meet these guys twice in a row and I ended up showing Aaron Goodwin a link to my video and he said he remembered that day and gave me advice to keep sticking out my dream of being a videographer.

Comic-Con was the same. Crowded and loud with millions of booths and people dressed up as their favorite comic book hero. This year we decided to keep it strictly for the GAC meet and greet and walked around a little, but since Comic-Con was even bigger that year that means more people and more lines to everything, including the bathrooms. And me and my sister get annoyed by crowds.

Waiting in line to meet the GAC.

So overall, I know most of you think I didn’t really go all out in the Comic-Con world like I should have, but you can only truly do so much in one day instead of the four-day passes they offer. Plus, big crowds of people all packed up in one convention center is not as cool as it sounds.

But hey, anyone that went to Comic-Con this year I’m sure would say they had tons of fun! It was a blast when I went; I’d go again if I had the chance.

Cheers to those Comic Con Goers of 2014!
